The movie A Nightmare On
Elm Street (1984) starred Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger, a previous child
murderer who gets out of prison on a technicality, only to be burned to
death in a boiler room by the vengeful parents. He returns in the dreams of
children in the town to get his own revenge on those who killed him. The
movie was directed by Wes Craven and also starred a young Johnny Depp
and Heather Langenkamp.
