The
Blues Brothers, played by Dan Aykroyd (as Elwood J. Blues) ands John Belushi
(as Jake E. Blues), are a band who play blues and classic soul tunes by such
artists as Sam And Dave etc. . They began as a music sketch on the
american TV show Saturday Night Live. An album of their cover songs
followed in 1978 (A Briefcase Full Of Blues) and then in 1980 the classic
Hollywood film was released.
Other Blues Brothers'
Show Band members were Steve Cropper (ex Booker T. & The M.G.'s) on guitar,
Donald Dunn on bass and Cab Calloway on guest vocals.
In The Blues Brothers
film (1980) there were guest appearances from James Brown, Aretha Franklin,
Cab Calloway John Lee Hooker and Ray Charles.
The brothers are on a
"mission from God" to raise money to save the orphanage that they grew up in
- by reforming their band.
