The movie was
directed in 1987 by Paul Verhoeven and starred Peter Weller (as Murphy /
RoboCop) and Dan OHerlihy, set in Detroit, Michigan, about a police
officer who is brutally murdered but then recreated as a cyborg cop.
Omni Consumer Products are
contracted to run the police force of a future financially ruined city,
Detroit in Michigan, and plan to replace old Detroit with the utopia of
"Delta City".
After the failure of an
experimental law enforcement droid, ED-209, OCP chairman the Old Man (Dan
O'Herlihy) agrees to try out the an alternative idea from Bob Morton
(enraging Dick Jones the senior president who was behind the failed
experiment) - a RoboCop cyborg.
Later, veteran police
officer Alexander James Murphy (Peter Weller) is shot and mutilated, left
for dead, by a gang of criminals led by Clarence Boddicker. OCP take
Murphys body and create RoboCop. The story unfolds....
